castomFLOW, in six pictures

Your process is fully documented. On four hundred sticky notes.

Every company has one. It lives in somebody's head, three spreadsheets and a wall nobody is allowed to clean. castomFLOW is what happens the first time you say it out loud instead.

Nobody is sitting here.
The work is still going.

A workflow does not need a chair, a lunch break or a handover document before somebody goes on holiday. It needs one sentence about the job you want done, and about two minutes.

03:14.
Somebody is issuing invoices.

Not somebody. Step four of eleven, which has run every night since March, has never once asked what the VAT rate was, and has never mentioned that it was doing it.

Describe it in plain words.
Like you would to a new hire.

Badly. In one long sentence, with a caveat in the middle and an exception you remember halfway through. That is enough to build from — and then you open what comes back and set it up exactly the way you want it.

The steps nobody wants to own.

Copy this into that. Check whether it arrived. Chase the one that didn't. Nobody's job, everybody's afternoon, and the first thing to go wrong in a busy week. Now it is step six, and step six does not mind.

Quiet office.
Loud month.

Everything that had to happen, happened — while the people who used to do it by hand were doing something a person should be doing. That is the entire pitch. The rest is which steps think and which ones simply run.
